When choosing a hosting, it is important to keep in mind the primary objective of your website. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a 20 GB hosting account to host a website. Unless the website allows users to store a large number of audio, video, or image files, a server space of 100 MB should be sufficient. If it isn't, you can always add more space later on!

It is much more important to consider the geographic location of the people who will be accessing the website. If you expect most of your users to be local, consider spending a little extra to give them a fast and interactive experience. For example, if your the majority of your users are in Singapore or South-East Asia, acquiring a 100 MB account on SingTel's speedy STiX network will produce much better results than acquiring a 20 GB account with a US provider.
